Scholarships

Criteria and Application Requirements

 


Sarah Whitehurst Memorial Professional Scholarship

-Must be an employee of Chesapeake Public Schools

-Must be a member of the Chesapeake Reading Council

-Seeking a degree in education or administration

-Completed application must be received by due date

-Type answers to the two essay questions and submit with your application

-Include one letter of recommendation from your principal or supervisor

-Provide a copy of the letter of acceptance from your university or a copy of documentation of your student status (class registration, student id, or a letter from a professor)

 

Cynthia Foster Undergraduate Scholarship & CRC Undergraduate Scholarship 

-Must be a student from Chesapeake Public Schools

-Must be seeking a degree in education

-Must be related to a current member of the Chesapeake Reading Council

-Must be a well-rounded student

-Completed application must be received by due date

-Type answers to the two essay questions and submit with your application

-Include one letter of recommendation from your principal, a teacher, or someone who knows you well

-Provide a copy of the letter of acceptance from your university

 

Survey Questions

Use a separate piece of paper to answer each of the following essay questions.

Essays should not exceed 300 words and should be submitted with your completed application.

1. What does literacy mean to you?

2. Why should you receive this scholarship?


 

The deadline for submitting this application is Friday, April 10, 2020. 

The committee will only look at the above stated criteria.
